Overview

Dulux Trade Undercoat is a solvent-based undercoat that delivers excellent opacity. Crafted to be used with Dulux Trade High Gloss it is also suitable for interior and exterior wood and metal surfaces that have been prepared and primed properly. The high sheen level helps to retain the gloss level and the easy flow will help deliver a smooth professional-quality result.

Tinted Colour Information

Tinted paint is custom mixed in house at Next Day Paint using our Dulux tinting machine. We mix the paint on site, which means we can offer our usual fast delivery with no extra delay. Tinted Colour Match paints can't be cancelled or returned as they are tinted to order.

Preparation

Surfaces must be sound, clean, dry and correctly prepared (new surfaces particularly must be fully dry)

New or bare surfaces should be primed with an appropriate Dulux Trade primer.

Thoroughly rub down previously painted surfaces, using ‘wet flatting’ methods where possible, then wipe off with a damp, lint free cloth. Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.

Treat any knots in wood with an appropriate knotting solution.

Any surface defects should be filled with an appropriate .

Application

To get the best results, ensure the surfaces to be painted are sound, clean, and dry. It is recommended to test a small area of the surface to be painted to ensure compatibility and that you are happy with the finished results.

It is recommended to only apply by brush or roller. For health and safety reasons related to all solvent-based paints, spray application is not recommended.

Stir thoroughly before use.

Apply 1 coat of the appropriate coloured Dulux Trade Undercoat.

Follow with 1 or 2 coats of .

Allow a minimum of 6 hours for the undercoat to dry before applying the Gloss finish. Where a second coat of Dulux Trade High Gloss is required, allow a minimum of 16 hours between coats.

Always follow the manufacturer's instructions found on the tin.
